Magic formula to find total number of orbitals in each shell

Magic formula.
There is a magic formula which helps the students to find total number of orbitals in a main shell, The following formula is very useful.
Total number of orbitals in a shell = n2
 Where n = number of shell
E.g for K, n= 1
Total number of orbitals in a shell = n2
                                                     = (1)2 =1

So K shell has only 1 orbital that is s, others examples are given below.

Shell
Value of n
Formula
K
1

n2= (1)2=1
L
2

n2= (2) =4
M
3

n2= (3)=9
N
4

n2= (4)=16
