What is difference
between phenyl, benzyl, benzal and benzo
group?
When one H atom is replaced
from benzene, then resulting group is called phenyl.
When benzene is directly
attached with CH2- group, resulting group is called benzyl group.
When benzene is directly
attached with CH- group, resulting group
is called benzal group.
When benzene is directly
attached with C- group, resulting group is called benzo
group.
Note: The valence of C atom must be 4
